Railway workers go on work abstention
Workers of Bangladesh Railway (East zone) Carriage and Wagon Workshop in the port city yesterday went on work abstention for around five hours.
Over a thousand workers halted their works around 9:30am, protesting “misbehaviour†of Divisional Superintendent (DS) of the workshop Harunur Rashid with some workers, said sources.
Workers alleged that Rashid threatened some workers of suspension as they were taking tea outside the workshop during their break.
Contacted, Rashid said he did not threat any worker of suspension but of serving show cause notice.
The work abstention was called off following a meeting between Rashid and workers' leaders.
