Farid Habib new navy chief
The government yesterday appointed Rear Admiral Muhammad Farid Habib as the chief of Bangladesh Navy by promoting him to vice admiral rank.
Shahin Alam, information officer at the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), told The Daily Star that the new chief would take charge on January 28.
According to Lt Commander Nur-e-Alam Siddique, assistant director of the ISPR, the newly appointed navy chief would replace Vice Admiral Zahir Uddin Ahmed, who is to retire on January 28.
Hailing from Tangail district, Farid Habib was born in 1959 and he joined Bangladesh Navy Academy in 1976 as an officer cadet.
