Lawmaker Ghyas 'abuses' two ministry staff this time
Ruling party lawmaker Ghyas Uddin Ahmed, who fired gun shots to suppress a protest against him in his constituency (Gafargaon) last year, allegedly hurled abuses at two staff of the primary and mass education ministry when they delayed in carrying out a task yesterday.
Rumours had that he also slapped them--Abu Yusuf, personal officer (PO) of Primary and Mass Education Minister Afsarul Ameen, and Mainuddin, a computer operator.
The two were asked to Xerox and fax some documents of the lawmaker. Witnesses said when Yusuf and Mainuddin delayed, Ghyas Uddin hurled abuses at them.
The lawmaker denied both of the allegations. He told The Daily Star that when his PO told him that the two threw his documents rather than doing what he asked of them, he went to the minister's office and told him to take action them.
The minister, Afsarul Ameen, told reporters that it was a misunderstanding, which was resolved.
On May 18, 2012, Ghyas fired shots to disperse a mob in Gafargaon, photo of which was run on different newspapers.
