Tributes paid to Bazlur Rahman in Satkhira
Speakers at a meeting here yesterday evening said editor Bazlur Rahman was not only an honest journalist but also fought for a democratic, secular, progressive and exploiting-free society.
Paying rich tributes to the veteran journalist Bazlur Rahman, they said he never bowed down to any repression in discharging his duties. He upheld the cause of the people.
The meeting organised by Satkhira Press Club was held at its auditorium with its convenor Kazi Dulal in the chair.
It was addressed by, among others, Subhas Chowdhury of daily Jugantar, Abu Ahmed of Ddaily Star, Altaf Hossain of BTV, Ramkrishna Chakraborty of daily Samakal, Habibur Rahman of daily Sangbad, Abdul Jalil of daily Spandan.
They said Bazlur Rahman always spoke against corruption that gripped the country's politics and economy.
They said Bazlur Rahman was the light house of a ship on the dark sea as he was an emblem of trust in journalism.
The people of the country would remember him with gratitude for his contribution to journalism, social services and progressive politics, they said.
