Rice taken away from railway wagon in Jhenidah
Miscreants stopped a goods train and took away about 50 bags of imported ice near Ektarpur village between Sundarpur and Durgapur railway stations in Kaligonj in Jhenidah in the early house of yesterday. They also took away diesel.
Police recovered around 300 kilograms of rice and 90 litres of from nearby villages.
Police and Locals said a goods train (DNK-6-down) from Darsana bound for Noapara was crossing the area at about 4 am.
When the train reached Ektarpur at 4-00 am, some miscreants stopped the train by opening its hosepipe and stated stealing rice and diesel. Seeing this, some people from nearby villages also joined them.
They fled away when Kaligonj police reached the spot on information.
Police later recovered 20 bags of rice and three barrels of diesel from Ektarpur and Chandba villages, officer-in-Charge of Kaligonj police station Aslam Khan told newsmen later.
Being informed, importer of the rice-- Messers Mojumdar Traders of Noapara reached the spot.
