Robbery at filling station in Bogra
Robbers stormed into a filling station in Dattabari area of the town and looted it early yesterday.
Proprietor of Shotabdi Filling Station M. A. Momin, who is also the president of Petrol Pump Owners' Association in Rajshahi division, said that 10/12 masked unidentified people with deadly weapons entered his fuelling station by breaking glasses and taking three employees hostage at about 2:30am.
The owner added that at that time, two of the three employees -- Saidul and Rubel -- were sleeping while the third one Nazmul, was at work.
According to Nazmul the gang also broke almirah and vault of the office room of the filling station and looted the cash and other valuables from there.
In Sylhet, police on Friday night arrested seven people from different areas of the district, suspecting their involvement in a robbery incident at an expatriate's house in Dakkhin Surma upazila, reports UNB.
Police said, a gang of robbers swooped on the house of UK expatriate Dr Tahmina Khalek on the first floor of Alma Community Centre at Lalabazar in the upazila on December 13 and looted valuables worth Tk 12 lakh including 15 tolas of gold ornaments, five mobile phone sets and Tk 50,000 cash.
Police arrested the caretaker of the house, Ansar Ali, hailing from Dhorompur village in Kamalganj upazila of the district on Friday.
As per the information extracted from him, police raided several areas of the district and arrested the seven people at night.
