Gazi Abdul Hakim's flute recital at IGCC

Indira Gandhi Culture Centre, High Commission of India, Dhaka in association with the State Bank of India in Bangladesh and Channel i as Media Partner, recently organised a flute recital by Gazi Abdul Hakim at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre.
The evening began with the popular tune of Ek Nodi Rokto Perie. This was followed up by Raag Desh, Bhupali, Pilu Tumri and a folk Dhun. Concluding the soiree was Raag Bhoirobi.
Gazi was accompanied by Debendranath Chattopadhyay (on the tabla), Doulatur Rahman (keyboard) and Md Sadek Ali (pakhwaj)
Gazi Abdul Hakim is one of the leading exponents of the bamboo flute in Bangladesh. Gazi has been trained by renowned artists like Mukul Biswas, Dulal Babu, Sheikh Ali Ahmed and Binoy Ray. Through proportionate synthesis of classical, western and traditional folk forms, Gazi has developed a unique style of playing the flute that has won plaudits worldwide.
