RU convocation held

The 8th convocation of Rajshahi University was held amid festivity on the campus yesterday.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid inaugurated the ceremony on behalf of the university chancellor President Zillur Rahman at the university stadium around 10:30am.
The university authorities gave certificates to 19 PhD and 5 MPhil students, 1661 graduates from arts faculty, 1486 from business faculty, 346 graduates from Law faculty, 816 graduates from science faculty, 1665 from social science faculty and 714 from zoology and environmental science faculty.
Students, teachers and guests brought out a colourful procession on the campus.
Welcoming the graduates, the convocation speaker Dhaka University Bangla Department Professor Emeritus Dr Anisuzzaman said students and teachers at higher education should not engage themselves in political lobbing.
Rather, they should try to persuade the country's political organisations to help those operate in the right way, he said.
