Protection of women's rights urged

Speakers at a meeting in Chittagong city yesterday said the government and NGOs should work together to protect the rights of women and to end discriminatory attitudes to them.
The consultation meeting on "Domestic Violence and Violation of other Human Rights: Our Obligatory" organised by Ghashful, an NGO, was held in Brac Centre conference room.
Joynab Begum, former joint secretary, chaired the meeting while Monjur-ul Alam-Chowdhury, a senate member of Chittagong University, presented the keynote papers.
Prof Rita Dutta, former principal of Chittagong Art College; and M Nasirul Hoque, city editor of a local Bangla daily, the Suprobhat Bangladesh; among others, spoke on the occasion.
