Kishore Kumar's last film song auctioned
The late playback singer Kishore Kumar's last film song, recorded just three days before his death in October 1987, but never released before, fetched a price of Rs 15.6 lakh at an auction on the sidelines of a film festival here on July 31, the organisers announced.
The first line of the last number of the singer recorded for Rakesh Kumar's unfinished movie is “Tum Hi To Ho Woh” whose full right was bought by an entertainment firm near Delhi.
The director of the firm said that they plan to introduce the song in their musical show “Jhumroo” on Kumar's birth anniversary on August 4.
Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, along with wife Kiran Rao, successfully bid for six collector's items valued at Rs 3,21,233 including Shammi Kapoor's famous jacket (auctioned for Rs 88,000). Aamir is an ardent fan of Shammi Kapoor and used to show the first reel of all his films to the late actor before their release.
Other items sold at the auction, organised by Osian's Film Festival, included 45 signed black and white photographic stills by Bollywood's evergreen Dev Anand (for Rs 4 lakh); the famous scarf from “Junglee” (1961) worn by Shammi Kapoor (for Rs 1,56,000); the sweater he wore in “Andaz” (Rs 1,50,00); the turquoise ring set in silver worn by Farooque Sheikh in Muzaffar Ali's “Umrao Jaan” (Rs 96,000) and a cricket bat signed by Aamir Khan and the “Lagaan” team (Rs 1,56,000).
The auction of film memorabilia and publicity material registered an overall sales of Rs 69.55 lakh.
