Power price hike irrational

The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) yesterday said the government's move to increase the price of electricity would not be rational if it was done ignoring public's opinion.
In a joint written statement, the CPB President Manzurul Ahsan Khan and General Secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim yesterday said the government had increased the price of power for five times which was unbearable for the people.
They also said already uncontrolled house rent, transport fare and price hike of the daily commodities had made the people's lives miserable and the new price hike of power would worsen the situation.
The leaders urged the government to pave the way of producing more power and supplying it uninterruptedly at the lowest price.
