Raise salary of lower court judges: SC
The Supreme Court (SC) yesterday directed the government to raise salaries and other facilities of lower court judges as per recommendations of judicial service pay commission by October 1 this year.
The SC also asked the finance secretary to appear before it on October 1 after complying with the directive.
The seven-member full bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain passed the order during the hearing of Masdar Hossain Case, popularly known as judiciary separation case.
It court also adjourned hearing of the case till October 1.
In 2008, the pay commission suggested allowances to the lower court judges equal to basic of their monthly salaries and increase other facilities.
