Security to be stepped up for Ramadan: DMP
Law enforcing agencies have taken extra security measures to prevent any kind of criminal activity in the country during the month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.
In a press briefing at DMP Media Centre in the capital, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Benazir Ahmed yesterday said no makeshift shops would be allowed on the footpaths during Ramadan.
Benazir Ahmed said 35 check posts will be set up and 384 teams will patrol the capital.
He warned cyber café owners to put a stop to pornography downloads saying, “Otherwise we will take legal actions against them.”
Forty electronic check posts would be set up to keep traffic smooth on city roads ahead of Ramadan, Benazir said.
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) has taken up three-tier security measures during the period.
Rab will take security measures in the country's markets and shopping malls, banks and business organisations, said a press release.
