Hajee Danesh university student murdered in broad daylight
A student of Hajee Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) stabbed to death in broad daylight yesterday by an employee of the same university.
The victim was Fahim Mahfuz Bipul, 23, a final year student of Veterinary Department. He hailed from Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon district.
Bipul is also vice-president of BCL unit of HSTU.
According to police and witnesses, Mrinal Kumar Goswami, a class four employee of HSTU along with Bipul came to a tea stall near the campus at around 1:00 pm yesterday to have tea.
The duo locked in an altercation over an issue and at one stage, Mrinal started to stab Bipul in front of people, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued Bipul and took him to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital where he died at around 2.40pm.
Police said Mrinal stabbed in the chest and back of Bipul.
Hearing the news, students, employees and teachers of the university rushed to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital.
Sources at HSTU said, Mrinal, a staff of Library Department of the university, was recently suspended for his various irregularities. He might had some personal enmity with Bipul which led to the brutal incident yesterday.
Mrinal went into hiding immediately after the incident.
OC of Dinajpur police station Aslam Iqbal said, no case was lodged with the PS till filing of this report yesterday evening.
A large number of police have been deployed at the university to avoid any further untoward incident.
