National Poet's birth anniversary celebration continues
A two-day event, in observance of Nazrul birth anniversary, ended on Saturday with thousands of people attending the celebration. Sylhet Nazrul Parishad, a combination of cultural organisations including Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad's Sylhet divisional chapter, arranged the event.
The first day's programme included placing floral wreaths on the poet's image at the Nazrul Chattar in the Rikabibazar area in the morning, discussion, music, poetry recitation and drawing contest for children.
City mayor Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran attended as chief guest at the concluding day's function at the Sylhet Auditorium. The Deputy Commissioner Khan Mohammad Bilal and Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad's divisional chief, Himagshu Biswas, and others spoke on the occasion. In the evening 113 children from different organisations took part at the function styled 'Nobo Srishtir Alekkheye'; the function was arranged by Nrityashoilee.
Artistes of Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad's Sylhet divisional chapter rendered Nazrul songs. Guest artistes Mousumi Das and Sunity Sinha were on the stage with renditions before nationally famed artiste Iffat Ara enthralled the audience for over one and half hour. She presented popular songs like “Bonopothey Ke Jaye Go”, “Amaye Nohe Go Bhalobasho Shudhu”, “O Kulbhanga Nodire” and more.
Besides, Nazrul Academy, Sylhet Kendrio Muslim Sahitya Sangsad and other organisations held separate programme marking the 113th birth anniversary of the Rebel Poet in a befitting manner.
