20 houses gutted in Faridpur

At least 20 houses were gutted in a fire at Hazi Newaz Kandi village in Sadar upazila on Monday evening.
Locals said the fire originated from a kitchen of one Goljer Khan's house and soon engulfed the other adjoining dwellings.
Villagers extinguished the blaze after several hours of frantic efforts.
The affected shop owners claimed that the loss caused by the fire could go up to Tk 25 lakh.
