Rajshahi BNP stages demo for CG system

Rajshahi city unit BNP yesterday staged demonstration in the city demanding restoration of caretaker government system.
More than two hundred leaders and activists led by President of Rajshahi city BNP Mizanur Rahman Minu staged demonstration in Saheb Bazar area at around 11:30am.
They also brought out a procession that marched different roads in the city to press home their demand.
Later, addressing the rally at Bhuban Mohan Park in the city, BNP leaders alleged that the present government had abolished the caretaker government system as they knew that Awami League would not be able to win the election if it was held under a caretaker government.
They threatened to go for a tougher movement to oust the government if the caretaker government system would not be restored according to their party leader Khaleda Zia's 90-day ultimatum from March 12 rally.
Highlighting the recent scandal of 76 lakh taka that was found in the car of rail minister's assistant personal secretary, the BNP leaders demanded the resignation of Railways Minister Suranjit Sengupta.
They alleged that the people's sufferings know no bounds due to price hike of daily essentials.
The speakers also urged the government to withdraw false cases filed against BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Meanwhile, around one thousand followers of Rajshahi district BNP led by BNP leader and former lawmaker Nadeem Mustafa staged demonstration and brought out a protest procession in the city to press home the same demands in the afternoon.
