Thirty shops gutted in fire

Thirty shops were gutted in a fire at Bateswar market in Khadimnagar area on the outskirts of the city on Sunday night.
The fire might have originated from an electric short circuit at a shop of electrical items and soon engulfed the adjacent shops, said Ayub Ali, president of the Bateswar Bazar Bayboshayee Samity.
Fire fighters and locals doused the flame after two hours' effort.
