2 housewives murdered allegedly by husbands
Two housewives were murdered allegedly by their husbands in Benapole and Savar yesterday.
A young housewife was killed allegedly by her husband for dowry at Bhoberber village in Benapole, Jessore yesterday morning.
The victim was identified as Bithi Begum, 17, wife of Rabiul Hossain of the village, reports our Benapole correspondent.
Kamruzaman, sub inspector of Benapole police station said, Bithi Begum, daughter of Abdur Rab Sharif of Faridpur Sadar upazila, was married off with Rabiul about two years ago.
Rabiul used to torture Bithi to bring dowry from her parents.
On Saturday night, the couple locked in an altercation over the issue.
Later Rabiul strangled Bithi while she was asleep in her bedroom at about 4am and went into hiding.
In Savar, Shabana Yasmin, 19, a garment worker, was allegedly strangled by her rickshaw-puller husband Nazmul Haque in Bhatpara area early yesterday, reports UNB.
Police said, Nazmul and Shabana used to live in a rented house at Bhatpara. They picked up a quarrel over a trifling matter late at night and at one stage Nazmul strangulated her to death.
On information, police rushed in and sent the body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police arrested Nazmul in this connection. A case was filed.
