Wrong steps by the government

The incumbent government is committing blunders one after another and is getting itself detached from the people. To thwart the opposition's grand rally it took undesirable steps and doing so it was exposing its fear and moral defeat.
The government said that those steps were taken to save the people. We want to ask "save from what?" It needs only a little common sense to realize that the opposition would not do anything to affect their grand rally.
The government's warning did not actually carry any weight. So, the government must act rationally, not do anything to make people suffer.
