Five killed in road crashes

Five persons were killed and five others injured in separate road crashes in Noakhali, Sirajganj, Rangpur, Dinajpur and Moulvibazar on Saturday and yesterday.
Our Noakhali Correspondent reports: A transport worker was killed in a road accident at Datterhat under Noakhali municipality in Sadar upazila on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Nasir, 20, helper of Al-Amin Paribahan, and son of Saleh Ahmed of Char Boishakhi village in the same upazila.
A Sonapur bound pick-up van hit Nasir while he was crossing the road to go to the bus stand in the area at around 11:00pm, said Sudharam police. Locals rushed him to Noakhali Medical College Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Locals blocked the main road for an hour.
Later, police brought the situation under control.
Our Sirajganj Correspondent adds: A Nosimon (a local three-wheeler) passenger was killed and four others were injured in a road accident on Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway at Naimuri in Tarash upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sunil Nath, 45, son of Rajendra Nath of Vorgram village in Tarash upazila.
A Nosimon on way to Tarash from Salnga was hit by a bus at Naimuri, leaving five passengers injured, said Hatikumrul police.
Among the injured, Sunil succumbed to his injuries on his way to Tarash Upazila Health Complex.
Our Rangpur Correspondent adds: A housewife was killed after an auto-rickshaw ran over her in Hawdarpar area of Mahiganj on the outskirts of Rangpur town on Saturday night.
The deceased is Mortuza Begum Dulali, 45, of Deuty union in Pirgachha upazila.
Police and witnesses said a speeding auto-rickshaw ran over Mortuza when she was going to her house from her sister's house at Mahiganj, leaving her injured critically.
Locals rushed her to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Our Dinajpur Correspondent reports: A young man was killed in a road crash in Dinajpur Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Ranjan Das, 24, son of Paddyo Lal Das of Uthrail in Dinajpur Sadar upazila.
A three-wheeler hit him from behind while he was walking towards his home from Naboranjan Bazaar in the upazila, leaving him injured critically, police said.
Locals took him to Dinajpur Medical College Hosptial, where he died around 12:00pm.
Our Moulvibazar Correspondent adds: A motorcyclist was killed and another injured in a head on collision between the motorcycle and a truck at Srimangal in Moulvibazar on Saturday night.
The deceased is Girindra Dev, 30, of Bhairab Bazaar village under Srimangal upazila, said police.
The motorcycle collided head on with a speeding truck near bridge no-1 of Moulvibazar-Dhaka highway at about 7:30pm, leaving Girindra dead on the spot.
Girindra's co-rider Ajoy Dev received serious injuries and was admitted to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.
