BFF polls on April 28
The polls of the Bangladesh Football Federation will take place on April 28, it was decided at the BFF executive meeting yesterday.
The four-year tenure of the existing committee led by Kazi Salahuddin is supposed to expire on April 30 but they will step down two days ahead due to the polls.
“We will resign from our posts in the Annual General Meeting on the same day of the elections and the polls will take place in the afternoon,” said BFF executive committee member Anwarul Haq Helal after the meeting.
The former general secretary informed that they had gotten the green signal from FIFA to hold the election in line with its constitution. It will give the District Football Associations voting rights though the AFC had a bar on direct participating of DFAs in the upcoming election.
Before the 2008 election, the then president, SA Sultan, gave a guarantee letter to the AFC that the DFAs would not have any voting right in the 2012 election but the letter was not placed to the AGM at that time and the letter would not now be effective for the upcoming elections.
The meeting also decided to inaugurate the FIFA Goal Project-2, astro turf adjacent to the BFF House, and the Sylhet Football Academy by the FIFA president Joseph Blatter who will arrive here on March 6 for an 18-hour visit.
