Man killed in city as train hits car
A man was killed when a speedy intercity train hit a private car at Staff Road level crossing in the city's Banani area last evening.
The body could not be identified as of 9:10pm.
Government Railway Police (GRP) quoting witnesses said the Mymensingh-bound Brahmaputra Express hit the private car when its driver was trying to cross the level crossing at 6:45pm ignoring the signal.
The police said the car driver drove the car through the wrong side although the gateman downed the iron bar to stop vehicular movement.

The witnesses also said moments before the train hit the car another passenger got down from it and ran away.
