A strand of the holy beard of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) was again put on display on the eastern side of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the city yesterday.
Thousands of Muslim devotees queued up from the early hours to have a glimpse of the holy beard while many got emotional seeing it for the first time in Bangladesh.
Initiated by Islamic Foundation Director General Shamim Mohammad Afzal, the beard was brought to the city from Topkapi Museum of Istanbul in Turkey, said an official release.
It was displayed at the mosque last Friday and, following request by devotees, the religious affairs ministry decided to again exhibit it yesterday from 10:00am to 4:30pm.
Meanwhile, a 17-day photo exhibition on Islamic historical things, including the personal items used by the holy prophet, concluded on the northern side of Baitul Mukarram yesterday.
