AL to talk with allies Feb 11-13
The Awami League (AL) will hold talks with its allies in 14-party during February 11-13 for taking a common stance on the issues to be discussed at the proposed dialogue with the government.
The decision came at a meeting of the party's senior presidium members yesterday held at acting AL president Zillur Rahman's Gulshan residence in the capital.
The 2-hour long meeting discussed overall political situation of the country including holding the next parliamentary elections, dialogue with the government and city corporation polls.
"We sat to discuss different issues including elections. But the main agenda of the meeting was to discuss about holding talks with the 14-party coalition on dialogue and election issues," AL presidium member Amir Hossain Amu told The Daily Star emerging from the meeting.
Another Presidium member Suranjit Sengupta said that they would sit with their coalition partners from February 11 to 13 to form a common attitude towards the issues.
The meeting welcomed the High Court verdict that quashed the extortion charge against the detained AL chief Sheikh Hasina.
Presidium members Abdur Razzak and Tofail Ahmed and acting general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam were also present at the meeting chaired by Zillur Rahman.
