Arrested 2 confess involvement
Two out of the three arrestees now on a five-day remand in Saad murder case yesterday confessed to police their involvement in the killing and disclosed involvement also of a girl.
“A teenage girl stayed overnight at the room of the private dormitory (where Saad was killed) and she was there until dumping of his body,” said Alamgir Jahan, investigating officer of the case and sub-inspector of Rajpara Police Station.
Alamgir denied giving the girl's details for the sake of the investigation and said the arrestees gave many important bits of information, on which police were working.
He said the two arrestees--Masud Ibne Ali alias Shawan and Kaysar Ahmed Anik--also revealed that Sweet, his cousin Koel, and the girl planned the murder. They rented the dormitory in the city's Sheroil Mothpukur just two weeks before the murder, he added.
Anik told police that Saad and Sweet were childhood friends and both hailed from Rohonpur upazila, Chapainawabganj.
The two friends developed rivalry recently when Saad made a love affair with a girl (not the girl involved) who was Sweet's girlfriend beforehand, he said.
Rashedul Islam Bipu, the third arrestee, however, was yet to admit his role in the killing, SI Alamgir said.
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Shawan, Anik, and Bipu, all HSC examinees of Barendra College, on Wednesday and then recovered the body of Nadimuzzaman Saad, first year student at Rajshahi Model School and College, from a sewer of the dormitory.
According to Rab, five of Saad's friends were involved in the murder. They are Sweet, Koel, Shawan, Anik, and Bipu. Rajpara police placed the latter three on remand Thursday.
