Huji leaders' counsels complete submission
Counsels of three Harkat-ul Jihad al-Islami (Huji) leaders yesterday completed submissions for discharging their clients from the August 21 grenade attack case.
The detained leaders, Hossain Ahmed Tamim, Abul Kalam Azad alias Bulbul and Moulana Abu Sayeed alias Dr Abu Zafar, earlier gave confessional statements to magistrates about their involvement with the incident.
The counsels placed their submissions before the Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 that resumed the hearing on charge framing against the accused yesterday.
With this, counsels of 28 accused in the case, including former state minister for home Lutfozzaman Babar, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mojaheed and Huji Chief Mufti Abdul Hannan, completed similar petition submissions for their clients.
A total of 31 accused, who have so far appealed for discharge from the case, including Babar and Mojaheed, now in jail, were produced before the court yesterday. Also, another accused, Ariful Islam Arif, DCC ward councilor, now on bail, was present.
Tribunal-1 Judge Shahed Nuruddin fixed January 30 for the next hearing.
