Death threats to Sust VC, BCL leader

The vice chancellor and a Bangladesh Chhatra League leader at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) received death threats over phone on Thursday and last evening.
Sources said an unknown caller claimed to the VC on Thursday evening that some shops at the main gate of the campus are being vandalised. He demanded compensation for those, or else, he said, he would burn the VC to death including his residence.
A general diary (GD) was filed with Jalalabad Police Station. Police are investigating the matter and the security of the VC and his residence has been increased, said Officer-in-charge Selim Hossain.
Unknown caller also threatened Naeem Hasan, a vice-president of BCL central committee and a student of Sust.
The caller phoned the BCL leader at 7:25pm last night and told him to ask his parents to keep ready a piece of land the size of his grave.
Naeem said he would file a GD with Jalalabad Police Station.
The OC said police are tracking down the mobile phone number and trying to capture the culprit.
