Schoolgirl rescued, bid to abduct college girl foiled
Police rescued a 14-year-old schoolgirl from Seedstore area of Bhaluka upazila in Mymensingh district on Monday night after 18 days of her alleged abduction from Mohanpur in Jessore.
SI Masum of Monirampur PS said they also arrested an alleged abductor--- Kamrul Islam, 23, son of Nazrul Islam of Nimtoli village in Jessore---from the house of Abdul Alim in Mymensingh.
On December 21, one Shaheen of Kodlapara village in Abhoynagar upazila allegedly kidnapped the girl with the help of Kamrul when she was going to Monirampur Bazar.
Later, the criminals took her to the house of Abdul Alim in Bhaluka of Mymensingh and kept her confined to a room.
Victim's father Rafiqul Islam filed a case with Monirampur police station accusing five people in this connection on December 26.
On information, police raided the house on Monday night and rescued the girl.
Police also handed over the girl to her parents at Shamta village in Monirampur upazila yesterday morning.
ABDUCTION
BID FOILED
In Jamalpur, locals foiled an alleged bid to kidnap a college girl and handed over the accused to police in Bakshiganj upazila yesterday noon.
Arrestee Rafiqul , 24, a garment worker, is son of Idris Ali of Goalgaon village under the upazila, reports our correspondent.
According to police, Rafiqul along with his accomplices, picked up the girl on a CNG run auto-rickshaw while on her way home from the college at around 2:00 pm.
When the auto-rickshaw reached Pakhimara area of the upazila, local people on suspicion detained the auto-rickshaw and rescued the girl. They also caught Rafiqul and handed him over to police but others managed to flee.
Victim's father filed a case with Bakshiganj police station in this connection.
