New Horizons Beckon
Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, popularly known as Nawshaba, has shot into the limelight with her eponymous role in the ntv serial “Rupkotha”.
However, it was her skills behind the camera rather than in front of it that launched her media career. She worked in Amitabh Reza's production house Half Stop Down for a while, where her hopes of stepping in front of the camera were kindled.
Later, Nawshaba worked for “Sisimpur”, lending her voice as Ikri-mikri for six years. Her experience in “Sisimpur” further propelled her into the media world.
Her first one-hour drama was “Boro Bela Chhoto Bela” aired by ntv in an Eid special. Ekushey Television later aired her first serial “Lolita”, where she played the role of a prostitute. The serial was shot in a red light area in Tangail. Nawshaba says the character was a huge challenge for her, which she met head on.
Nawshaba's appearances in TV commercials for Banglalink, Grameen Phone, BBC and Teletalk have brought her acclaim too. Her face is also prominent on city billboards.
Nawshaba has made stellar appearances in “Eid Vacation”, “Gorur Mullo
Shottor Hajar Taka”, “Sumon-er Ek Din”, “Uposhonghar” and “Moqbul”.
A major coup for Nawshaba was when veteran actor Subarna Mostafa offered her a chance to play her younger counterpart in “Uposhonghar”.
After meeting Subarna and listening to the story, Nawshaba lost no time and accepted the role at once.
Nawshaba says she enjoys her work in the ongoing Desh TV serials “Shatkahon” and “Gohine”, as well as “Shobuj Nokkhotro”, being aired by ntv.
Upcoming works by the artiste include “Mithha Hari”, “Out of Control”, “Right or Wrong” and three TV plays based on Tagore's stories, directed by Nurul Alam Atik.
Meanwhile, the actress has won acclaim for her role in “Rupkotha”. Nawshaba terms the serial as a turning point in her career, after which she will carefully choose subsequent roles.
The intrepid actress is now training her sights on the silver screen--as long as her undoubted potential is allowed to flower.
