Girl 'kills herself' for laptop

A female student of Mirpur University College allegedly committed suicide at their house in the city's Mirpur area yesterday after her parents refused to buy her a laptop.
Tamanna Parvin, 17, an HSC examinee, tied a scarf around her neck and hanged herself from the shower pipe of washroom at Kazipara around 3:00am.
After the incident, her parents opened the door, took her down, and rushed her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Quoting family members, police said Tamanna was requesting her father Abu Bakar, a transport worker, for a laptop.
After her family members' refusal to buy her a laptop, she entered the bathroom and committed suicide, police added.
Her body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
An unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
