Speedboat overturns near Laboni point at Cox's Bazar: 10 hurt

A speedboat overturned near Laboni point on Cox's Bazar sea beach yesterday, injuring 10 tourists.
The injured are Shohel, 23, Saiful, 18, Mokbul Ahmed, 45, Semon Ara, 34, Khorshed Alam, 32, Nobab Ali, 28, Refayet Ullah, 21, Monjur, 24, Mosharaf Hossain, 19, and Arafat, 11. They came from Dhaka and Rajshahi districts.
Later, the divers of Yasir Life Guard rescued them and sent them to Cox's Bazar Sadar General Hospital for treatment.
Acting officer in-charge (OC) of Tourist Police Asad Karim Chowdhury said they seized the speed boat.
Station Manager of Yasir Life Guard Mostafa Kamal told this correspondent that the speed boat carrying eight tourists started its journey at about 12:00 noon. Suddenly, the speed boat turned turtle after being knocked by a big wave.
The eight tourists were rescued instantly while two other tourists, who were taking bath nearby, were also injured.
