Road crashes kill 6
Six people were killed and 15 others injured in separate road accidents in Tangail, Satkhira and Magura from early Monday to yesterday, report our correspondents.
In Tangail, two people were killed and 15 others injured as a Tangail bound truck from Dhaka collided with a bus on Dhaka-Tangail Highway at Dulla Mansur in Mirzapur upazila around 6:00am yesterday, said Golam Mostafa, officer-in-charge of Mirzapur Police Station.
Among the victims, two were burnt alive as one of the vehicles caught fire.
After the collision, a pick-up van hit the truck from behind, killing the unidentified trucker and a pick-up van passenger on the spot.
One of the deceased is Shafiqul Islam, 35.
The injured were taken to Kumudini Hospital.
In Satkhira, a man Kali Pada Mondal, 45, son of Balai Mondal, was seriously injured when an engine-run van knocked him down on Satkhira-Bangdah road at Faijullahpur in sadar upazila yesterday around 12:30pm.
He succumbed to his injuries at Satkhira Sadar Hospital.
In Magura, a young motorcyclist Anwar Hossain was killed and another injured when the bike hit a tree beside Magura-Mohammadpur road at Joshpur on Monday.
