Tigers kill 2 in Sundarbans
Sundarbans tigers killed a crab catcher yesterday and a fisherman on Thursday.
A crab catcher was killed by a tiger at Nushu Khal (canal) of Mathabhanga river in the Sundarbans yesterday, reports our Satkhira correspondent.
The victim was identified as Tutul Mollah, 25, son of Abdul Mazid Mollah of village Mirgang in Shyamnagar upazila.
Quoting local people police said Tutul went to the Sundarbans early in the morning to catch crab. While catching crab in the Nushu canal, a tiger swooped on him and dragged him into deep forest at about 9am.
Local people and forest guards recovered his body in the afternoon.
In Khulna, a fisherman was killed in tiger attack at Chare Khal (canal) in the Sundarbans in Dakope upazila on Thursday.
Forest guards recovered the body of Bellal Gazi, 24, of Kolabogi village in the upazila from the deep forest with the help of local fishermen Friday morning, reports UNB.
Forest department sources said, when Bellal was fishing in the canal at night a tiger swooped on him and dragged him into deep forest.
