MN Larma's anniversary of death today
Today is the 28th death anniversary of Manabendra Narayan Larma, popularly known as MN Larma, a leader of Jumma people and the founder of the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS).
On the occasion, the PCJSS paid rich tribute to MN Larma and others who dedicated their lives to establish the rights of Jumma people. It also called upon all concerned to build a greater national unity to participate in the movement for realising the rights.
In 1983, MN Larma was assassinated along with his eight fellows in a factional attack, says a press release.
He is the person who first initiated the movement by unifying the indigenous people of Chittagong Hill Tracts to realise their due identity and rights.
MN Larma was also a member of Gano Parishad when the constitution of Bangladesh was passed unanimously in the house on November 4, 1972. He never signed the constitution.
