V for Ivy
History revisits as she emulates her father's feat by a landslide victory against party's favourite; Ashraf hails (October 31, 2011)
Congratulation to Dr Ivy and her voters in Narayanganj city polls! It is the expression of people's opinion in favour of peace and a positive Bangladesh.
S.M. Tofazzel Hossain
Our political parties should respect people's verdict. They always forget that people are the root of all power. Congratulations to Narayanganj people for making history!
Muntasir H
Ivy deserves it. This proves that the government did not do any corruption in the election.
Somanath Dev
The victory once again proved that people are in favour of fair, honest and transparent political leadership, not conventional politics of terrorism, sycophancy and plundering as practiced by AL or BNP. Hope AL & BNP leaders will learn the lesson.
M U Rahman
The people of Narayangang are very lucky because they have Ivy. We need thousands of Ivy. Best wishes for Ivy.
Bidhan Roy
Congratulations to Ivy for her strong will and courage which indicates a lot to everyone of us. It is a victory for the people and once again it shows strongly that the true power is with the people. I also congratulate the people of Narayangang!
Sheikh Monirul Islam, Opee
This is a warning to the people who want to go to power by force, through corruption and the back doors. I also congratulate EC for not bending to the pressure of the government.
Talat Islam
The victory of Dr Selina Hayat Ivy in NCC polls has shown how fair, free and peaceful election can be held in the absence of a candidate from the opposition party!

I am thrilled by the messages sent by the people in the midst of a dirty, corrupt and sometimes a violent political canvas of Bangladesh. Similar messages should be given to the national leaders of major parties!
Sabir Majumder
Narayanganj City Corporation election has a very significant message for the Awami League government. Although Selina Hayat Ivy is a member of Awami League, yet the AL gave its support to Shamim Osman who was defeated by Ivy. The message to AL is that its popularity is eroding.

The holding of fair and free election also proved that the government was active to hold a fair election and it has cooperated in all respects. We must not forget that without the cooperation of the government, it would not have been possible. The government's decision of not deploying army has not affected the election; rather it proves that fair election is possible without army. So, the government also deserves a big hand.
Dr. Abdul Moyeen
The result tells that the terror's days are gone. No doubt the media again proved its power. I hope the media will keep doing its job.
Fuad Hasan
This victory belongs to the peace-loving people, the media, the independent civil society and, above all, to Dr Ivy. The defeat goes to terrorism and extortionist. Dr Ivy is not only the first elected Mayor of N'ganj, but she has also elevated herself as an icon of peace and democracy.
Few cautionary advices for Ivy: Don't be proud of your landslide victory. Always keep the members of the civil society and the media who supported you. Take their advice as and when necessary. To the young supporters of Ivy: Never try to take advantage of your support. Provide her all out support honestly. All of you from N'ganj may become a model of peace and democracy, to which they country is eagerly looking forward.
