Worker shot for extortion

A group of extortionists shot a construction worker yesterday and left a chit for the owner of the building to negotiate the extortion money in the city's Kafrul.
Injured Didarul Alam, 25, is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
Five armed extortionists entered the building at about 6:30am and found Alam sleeping, said Sadekur Rahman, an official in the construction site quoting Alam.
They shot Alam in the toe and threw the chit at him saying that Alam's boss should call the number given in the chit and settle with them the toll amount and date of handing over the money, said Sadekur.
