Road crashes kill 6, injure 12
Six people were killed and 12 others injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka, Bogra, Lalmonirhat and Pabna yesterday.
Staff correspondent reports: A trader was killed when a Jatrabari-bound speedy bus hit him while he was waiting for a bus on the Dhaka-Demra road at Konapara Bus Stand of Demra in Dhaka city yesterday.
The deceased Golam Mostafa, 38, owner of a mobile service shop at Gulistan, lived in Konapara Shahjalal Road area.
Staff correspondent from Bogra says: Three motorcyclists, including two siblings, were killed under the wheels of a bus of Shyamoli Paribahan when the bus hit the motorcycle and dragged it around 100 yards at Banani in Bogra town yesterday afternoon.
The deceased were Ayub Hossain, 35, Harun-or-Rashid, 25, and their friend Niamul Bari Niju, 25, residence of Khottapara village of Shahjahanpur upazila.
Our Lalmonirhat correspondent adds: A rickshaw van puller was killed on the spot and at least 12 passengers of a bus were injured when the Rangpur-bound bus hit the rickshaw van and fell into a roadside ditch on the Lalmonirhat- Burimari highway at Bawra Kathaltola of Patgram upazila yesterday.
The deceased was rickshaw van puller Akhter Hossain, 40, son of late Buda Mahmud, of Nabinagar village, of Patgram upazila.
Police and locals rescued the injured passengers and admitted to Patgram and Hatibandha Upazila Health Complexes.
Our Pabna correspondent says: A minor girl was succumbed to injuries at upazila health complex yesterday after a speedy bus of Ababil Paribahan hit her when she was playing with her friends near the road of Ramchandrapur village in Chatmohar upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased is Himo Parvin Jim, 5, daughter Hamidur Rahman, of village Gunaigasa of Chatmohar upazila.
