Book on poet Sheikh Fazlul Karim launched

A book on poet Sheikh Fazlul Karim, titled “Kobi Sheikh Fazlul Karim-er Smriti Nidorshon”, was launched at Lalmonirhat District Museum in the town recently. DC Lalmonirhat Mokhlesur Rahman Sarker unveiled the book. Captain (retd.) Azizul Haque Bir Protik; poet Ferdousi Rahman; Dr. Risin Parimol; Nazrul Islam Mandol and Entazur Rahman, among others, were present at the function.
Karim's life, literary works and social contributions have been recorded in this 166-page book -- funded and published by the Lalmonirhat District Museum.
Ferdousi Rahman pointed out that Karim's work has historical value. He collected data from contemporary newspapers, old writings and arranged them chronologically.
Speakers at the book launch said that it's high time that the government took steps to preserve Karim's writings and accord him national recognition.
Karim wrote many poems and stories since his childhood. He also published several children's books including “Shorol Poddo Bikash” and “Rotno Prodeep”, said Mokhlesur Rahman Sarker.
The founder of Lalmonirhat District Museum, Ashrafuzzaman Mandol, said that Karim is the pride of Lalmonirhat. As neither the government nor any non-government organisation has taken steps to honour and commemorate the poet, Lalmonirhat District Museum took the lead.
