NCL icons named
The national selectors announced the list of thirty-two icon players for the upcoming National Cricket League (NCL) yesterday.
Each of the eight teams can have a maximum of four icon players. If a division has more than four icon players in their side, they will given their choice of four players from that pool, after which the excess players will be distributed to the other divisions by the three-member selection panel.
“Dhaka has more than four icon players so they will first choose their four icon players and after that the remaining players will be distributed by the national selectors on the basis of other team's strength and weakness,” informed Gazi Ashraf Hossain, chairman of the tournament committee.
The National Cricket League, the lone first-class competition in the country, is expected to start from October 17.
Another addition to this year's competition is the permission to field one foreign player, each division being allowed registration of up to three (current first-class players).
