3 killed in cylinder, boiler explosions
Three people including an adolescent boy were killed as a cylinder exploded in Cox's Bazar and a boiler went off in Bogra yesterday.
Two died in the cylinder explosion at an automobile workshop in Gorokghata area under Maheshkhali of Cox's Bazar, reports our correspondent.
The dead are Bijoy Ram Dey, 40, and Monir Hossain, 12, son of workshop owner Ataur Rahman.
Police said the accident occurred when Ataur along with his son Monir was filling air into a wheel.
Law enforcers went to the spot and recovered the bodies, but Ataur has been absconding since the accident struck.
Our Bogra correspondent adds, a rickshaw-van puller was killed and two workers of Bhai Bhai Rice Mill were injured when the boiler of the mill exploded in Omandighi area under Shahjahanpur upazila of Bogra yesterday.
Abdul Malek, 45, died immediately after the explosion.
The boiler blasted around 6:30am when Malek went to the mill to husk his paddy, said the officer-in-charge of Shahjahanpur Police Station.
The injured were rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital and the body was sent there for an autopsy, added the OC.
