10 injured in police action
Police charged batons, injuring 10, to clear a road barricade put up on Dhaka-Aricha highway yesterday afternoon.
Several hundred workers of Ayesha Abed Foundation of Manikganj barricaded the road protesting what they claimed arrest of the foundation's manager by a mobile court at around 3 pm.
Three of the female workers were admitted to Manikganj Sadar Hospital with head injuries.
Liza Akter, in-charge of the foundation's sales centre said, a mobile court went to their institution at around 2 pm and visited all the units for an hour, fined Tk. 2 lakh and arrested their manager and took him to deputy commissioner's office.
When the mobile court team left the foundation, the enraged workers blocked the road in front of their office and opposite to the Manikganj Police Line at around 3:15, Zillur Rahman, a worker of the foundation said.
The mobile court, however, released Shymal Kumer Das, the manager of the foundation, at around 4:10, said some workers of the foundation.
