Two women found dead
Two women were allegedly killed by their husbands in separate incidents at Turag and Pallabi in the city yesterday.
The victims were Mina Aktar, wife of transport worker Mohammad Hanif of Pallabi, and Jesmin Begum, wife of Shahidul Islam, a sub-contractor and resident of Ranavola at Turag.
Mina's uncle Al Amin told this correspondent that Pallabi police recovered her body from her residence yesterday morning.
Hanif used to torture her, Al Amin said, adding that he (Hanif) brought Mina to Dhaka from their village home in Jhalakathi on Friday to kill her in a pre-planned way. Now he is trying to prove the death as suicide, he said.
Meanwhile, Turag police recovered the body of Jesmin from her residence at 9:00am yesterday, which was locked from outside.
Mohammad Joynal, brother of Jesmin, told this correspondent that Jesmin's husband along with his four-year-old daughter is absconding since the incident. He said they suspect that her husband fled the scene immediately after the death.
Police sent the bodies to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
