JP leader held with phensidyl
BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) men arrested a Jatiya Party (JP-Ershad) leader with 41 bottles of phensidyl at bordering Baniyatari village under Aditmari upazila on Saturday night.
The arrestee, Abdur Rahim, 34, is the publicity secretary of Jatiya Party Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila unit.
A team of BGB Durgapur camp caught JP leader Abdur Rahim at Baniyatari village while he and Shamim Alam Meku, joint secretary of the party's district unit, were carrying 41 bottles of phensidyl in a motorcycle to Lalmonirhat town at around 8:00pm. Meku, however managed to flee.
Later, the BGB men handed over Rahim to Aditmari police and deposited the seized bottles of phensidyl to the police station.
A case was lodged with Aditmari Police Station against JP leaders Abdur Rahim and Shamim Alam Meku under Drug Control Act.
Police yesterday produced Rahim in the Chief judicial Magistrate's Court. Judge Naresh Chandra Sarker rejected Rahim's bail prayer and sent him to jail.
