Int'l Day for World's Indigenous People celebrated

Marking the International Day for World's Indigenous People, different cultural groups and organizations representing the indigenous communities held a cultural show at Mymensingh Shilpakala Academy auditorium on August 9.
Indigenous groups including Garo, Hajang, Dhalu, Banai, Wridi, Cooch and Burman from the greater Mymensingh region took part in the celebration showcasing their traditional cultural activities -- enthralling the good number of audience who turned up at the venue.
Bangladesh Garo Chhatra Sangsad, Garo Chhatra Union, Tribal Welfare Association and Bangladesh Hajang Chhatra Sangsad also participated in the celebration.
A colourful rally was brought out in the town marking the occasion.
International Day for World's Indigenous People Celebration Committee organised the event.
Earlier, a discussion was held with Tushar Daring in the chair.
Among others CARITAS Regional Director Theofil Nokrek; Professor Sumita Naha and Dhiresh Chiran spoke at the event.
