China launches satellite for Pakistan
China launched a communications satellite yesterday that will be used by Pakistan, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The PAKSAT-1R satellite was launched by a carrier rocket at 00:15 am Friday and entered a geostationary orbit, Xinhua said, citing the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre.
It will be used for broadband Internet, telecommunications and broadcasting, the report said.
China and Pakistan signed a deal for the satellite in 2008, their latest collaboration since China launched Pakistan's first low-orbit satellite in 1990, according to Xinhua.
