“Amar Bondhu Rashed”, an adaptation of a novel by Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, highlights a teenage freedom fighter who embraces martyrdom.
The protagonist of the film, Rashed, a student of class eight, lives in a small town. When the war breaks out, he along with his friends help freedom fighters in many ways.
Unlike most of his friends and classmates, Rashed's interest isn't confined to fun and games. He is well aware of the political turmoil in the country. When the war begins, he makes a very mature decision.
The story is narrated by one of Rashed's friends to his teenage son.
The film was widely appreciated by a large audience, including teachers and students of the university. In fact tickets ran out rapidly.
Later, at a meeting with RU teachers and students, director Morshedul Islam claimed that he saw much of himself in the protagonist of the film.
He also said that the film would inspire the youngsters to be real patriots.
