Judge hands over two men to cops

A High Court judge yesterday handed over two persons to police on charge of trying to influence his personal officer in connection with a case of fatwa in Bogra by entering his guarded room at the court.
Justice AHM Shmsuddin Chowdhury Manik handed over Foyez Ahmed Chowdhury, 34, and Nabiul Islam, 31, to Shahbagh police, asking them to find why they entered his room, HC sources said.
Foyez and Nabiul approached Justice Manik while he was working at his chamber room around 4:00pm but gave distorted answers when asked why they were there.
Foyez claimed they came to meet the personal officer about the next date for hearing of the case and did not know that the judge was present at the room, sources said.
Shahbagh police, quoting Foyez, however told The Daily Star that they mistakenly entered the chamber while looking for a relative.
