105 shops burnt to ashes

A devastating fire gutted 105 shops in Gobindaganj Upazila market early yesterday damaging goods and properties worth over Tk 7 crore.
Gaibandha fire fighting sources said the fire originated from an electric shot circuit of a clothes shop at 5:00am and soon engulfed adjacent shops.
The blaze burnt to ashes the cash and goods of 105 shops and damaged partially of 41 other shops. The losses from the fire might be over Tk 10 crore, said Mohammed Hossain Faku, vice-chairman of the upazila.
Fire fighting units from Gaibandha, Bogra and Jaipurhat districts rushed in and brought the fire under control after fighting for two hours.
