DU team tops programming competition
The two-day National Collegiate Programming Contest (NCPC)-2011, a computer programming competition, ended at Dhaka University (DU) yesterday.
Seventy-eight teams from 17 public and 35 private universities participated in the competition where Resonance, a team from DU, won the first place.
DubDub and Dynamites, two teams from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet), obtained the second and third place respectively.
This is the first-ever programming contest to make separate arrangement for female programmers. Fifty female teams from 26 universities in the country participated in the event.
DU's Felicity and Renaissance stood first and third respectively in the contest fought only by female programmers while Buet's Hyperion team was selected as second best team.
The programmers of the first three winning teams were awarded crests, cash, and certificates at an award ceremony at TSC auditorium of DU.
State Minister for Science and ICT Yeafesh Osman attended the ceremony as the chief guest, which was presided over by DU Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique.
